Lines code editor
Price: $
The days when code editors like Dreamweaver and Notepad++ ruled the market are gone. Many new code editors have arrived in recent years and are more aligned with the current web development trends. Some offer more advanced editing features than others, and some of them are even free.
This review is for one of the newer and not so well known code editor called Lines. It is a lightweight code editor with less than 1MB installation file, and because of its lightweight nature, it is appropriate even for less powerful or old computers. When you open it for the first time, you are presented with a minimalistic interface, similar to Windows Notepad.
It includes features like syntax highlighting, project explorer, and predefined templates for new HTML 5, CSS, and other files. Some of the more interesting features also include code snippets, the possibility to export projects as zip files, an integrated web browser, and a to-do list.
Although it does include many useful features, there are also areas where it could be improved upon. It could benefit from features such as allowing users to edit files directly on the web server via FTP protocol or offering support for plugins, the features that can be found in other more popular tools on the market.
In conclusion, Lines code editor is still quite new, so we should give it some time to see how it develops. But for now, if you are looking for a code editor and you don't need the more complex features available in some of the more popular tools, then you might as well give this lightweight code editor a try.
